Our Commitment
UnisHub believes every learner deserves equal access to reliable university data. We voluntarily follow United States accessibility standards to make sure our global directory works for everyone, everywhere.
Standards & Regulations We Follow
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA — W3C Recommendation, 12 Dec 2024
- In-progress alignment with draft WCAG 3.0 — target completion in 2025
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Titles II and III
- Section 508 Refresh (2017) of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
- European Union Web & Mobile Accessibility Directive / EN 301 549 (for our international users)
Measures We Take to Support Accessibility
Design & Development Practices
We use semantic HTML 5, valid Cascading Style Sheets, responsive layouts, and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA 1.2) roles. Color choices meet contrast ratios, and interactive components work by keyboard alone.
Continuous Audit & Testing
Automated scans run on every code commit. Manual tests with screen readers and keyboard navigation occur before each monthly release. Independent audits verify conformance twice a year.
Training & Governance
All engineers and content editors finish an annual accessibility course. Clear internal guidelines define roles, checkpoints, and corrective actions. The Accessibility Lead reports progress to the executive team quarterly.
Compatibility & Technical Specifications
UnisHub supports recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. We test with screen readers NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver, plus magnifiers and speech-input tools. The site requires HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript ES 6, and WAI-ARIA 1.2 support.
Third-Party Content & Integrations
Some features—such as embedded maps, analytics dashboards, or external Portable Document Format (PDF) files—come from third-party providers. Where possible, we choose accessible vendors, label integrations, and offer alternative text summaries or downloadable comma-separated values (CSV) files.
Known Limitations & Planned Improvements
Issue | Planned Fix (ETA) |
---|---|
Some legacy PDF brochures lack tagging. | Convert or replace with HTML versions by Q4 2025. |
Older campus-map images miss alt text. | Add text equivalents by Q1 2026. |
Video transcripts for archived webinars are incomplete. | Provide verbatim captions by Q2 2026. |
