Claflin University : Overview, Courses, Scholarships & Rankings
About Claflin University
Claflin University is a historic HBCU with a reputation for blending a liberal-arts foundation with practical learning. Students explore the sciences, humanities, business and education in classes that favor discussion and collaboration. Modern labs, studios and a well-used library support the work, while advising, tutoring, counseling and a career center help students stay on track. It feels personal, not distant, which is part of why people choose it.
Campus life leans warm and close-knit, with student-led groups, service projects and plenty of intramurals around green quads and a busy fitness center. Traditions and a spirited homecoming season anchor the year. And career preparation runs through everything: internships, opportunities to work on research with faculty, alumni mentorship and employer visits help students move from classroom to first job. Orangeburg adds small-town hospitality, local eateries and real chances to volunteer, with larger-city opportunities within easy reach.
